Let’s talk about exploring emotions around your wavy hair journey.
If you are like most of my clients, you came into this curly world full of excitement and high expectations. You devoured every source of information out there, from Instagram to youtube, to achieve similar results.
In those beginning days, emotions ran high, and you were eager to invest in various products to get that look. There was no stopping you, and you were on a mission with resolve to dive headfirst into this endeavor.
A few months in, I’ve noticed hope slowly turning into frustration. Overwhelm is a word I hear a lot, and the mood starts to shift into a slippery slope of disappointment that has you yearning for the flat iron days you left behind.
You forget about those original emotions that stirred inside of you. The ones that made you feel like you were, in fact, good enough just as you are. Feelings of inspiration, courage, and self-acceptance.
How can we get back to those feel-good times when you are currently in a state of defeat?
You start where you are.
What do you know about right now since this moment is all you have?
Your hair is wavy. Allow it to settle in. Feel proud that you are different than any other hair type. You can wear your hair tighter and more controlled on day 1. Maybe you’ll have a few surprise ringlets show up from time to time: Loose, beachy waves on day 2. Perhaps day 3 is barely a bend, but you are grateful for its versatility.
You can let go of any curl envy that tries to creep in by feeling gratitude.
